Knowing I was on my own, I fixed the problem by manually restoring the appropriate Realtek audio input device. The source code is available as Open Source, under the BSD license. MIDI Monitor is FREE to download and use. Musicians will find it handy for tracking down confusing MIDI problems, and programmers can use it to test MIDI drivers and applications. It eventually offered to hook me up with a person, expected wait time "434 minutes". (Note if you also subscribe to Apple Music, you will need to enable the Show iTunes Store option in the Music app preferences.) Heck, even the ability to rip. MIDI Monitor is an app to display MIDI signals going in and out of your Mac. No audio, iTunes, YouTube, any web-based media player e.g. Midi input is on 'all inputs' and another Casio piano works like a charm. Software keyboard in editor play notes properly. In the MIDI Monitor I receive MIDI Notes (On/off) from Komplete Kontrol Keyboard (A25) but the armed instruments doesnt play. This morning I woke up to "No input audio devices found", which meant that Kontakt once again produced no sound, and Audacity gave an error message of "Could not open source for recording". Yesterday, everything seemed ok, but I wasn't trying to play MIDI files through Kontakt. Leawo iOS Data Recovery for Mac is used for recovering files from iTunes backups. I want to use Kontakt, Audacity (for recording and modest postproduction), and three other sources of playable audio: iTunes, Spotify, and my own website. MIDI Monitor is intended to track outgoing and incoming MIDI streams. Well, I have to admit I have been facing a novel problem every day, usually one with a temporary solution that is hard to duplicate the next day.
